May 09, 2012

On May 9, 2012, conductor Jacques Lacombe made his debut in the mythic New York concert hall, Carnegie Hall, conducting the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra (NJSO) in a program inspired by the work of composer/professor Ferruccio Busoni.  The evening began with two landmark works of two of his students, Nocturnal by Edgar Varèse and Kurt Weill’s Symphony No. 1, before concluding on his own monumental Piano Concerto.

Guest artists included pianist, Marc-André Hamelin, soprano, Hila Plitmann, and the men of the Westminster Symphonic Choir. This concert was presented as part of the Spring For Music Festival and was broadcast live on WQXR 105,9 FM in New York.

The Spring For Music Festival showcases orchestras based on creative, bold, and innovative programming. The NJSO and five other orchestras from the United States and Canada were selected to participate in the second edition of the festival which runs from May 7 to 12, 2012.  (photo credits: M et M Photographie)
